Story
There are over 105, 000 people experiencing homelessness in prosperous Australia each night. For some, homelessness is a one-off occurrence. For others, it is a prolonged experience that may be interspersed with periods of being housed. The experience of homelessness in Australia can also vary greatly – from sleeping on the streets or moving between temporary situations, to living in a crowded or unsafe dwelling that effects a person’s ability to participate in family and community life.
Did you know:
* $15 provides a day’s meals for a family struggling to put food on the table
* $30 provides someone a bed for a night in one of our crisis accommodation services
* $50 provides school supplies and excursion fees for a child experiencing disadvantage
* $80 provides a life skills course (cooking, job interview prep or computer skills at TAFE)

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW (Vinnies NSW)
The St Vincent de Paul Society in NSW has been helping the community since 1881. Every day, the Society's 16,000 members and volunteers help vulnerable and marginalised people in their local communities by visiting them in their homes, providing assistance and referring them to other services when needed. Last year our local member networks provided around $20 million worth of financial and material assistance to hundreds of thousands of people experiencing disadvantage.
